- Discuss the barriers to and facilitators of RTW for MVA Fund loss-of-income claimants across healthcare, legislative and insurance, personal, and workplace systems.

Summary of the article
Road traffic accidents (RTAs) are a global public health concern, particularly affecting low- to middle-income countries. The increasing incidence of RTAs, their socioeconomic impact, and the growing demand for disability benefits threaten the sustainability of social security agencies, such as motor vehicle accident funds that invest in return-to-work (RTW) programmes. This study therefore aimed to identify barriers to and facilitators of RTW for loss-of-income claimants through the lens of healthcare workers’ experiences. Understanding these factors may assist healthcare workers in implementing effective RTW interventions to improve patient outcomes, health, livelihoods, and quality of life, while also informing RTW operations to support a coordinated process within the African insurance industry.
